Welcome to Karen Tyler-Colvill Art,

I am an artist based in Portsmouth living with my husband, 2 daughters and crazy spaniel Riley. Gaining inspiration from living on the South coast of England and from being lucky enough to have travelled to some beautiful places around the world.

I create original oil paintings in a realist style with a hint of abstraction on some of the wave and water images. My love of the ocean and all things beach and shore side are depicted in a lot of my art works.

Working in oils allows me the best colour likeness and the ability to create form and tone within the pigment while it is still wet, whilst attempting to capture the movement and energy of the ever changing light, which is what draws me to an image in the first instance.
