NEW WORK ………

New creation: ‘Evanescent’

Original oil on canvas

75cm x 50cm

Original and prints available

I deliberated over the name for this piece of work for a while, I eventually decided on ‘Evanescent’ which is such a lovely word meaning, quickly fading or vanishing. Each unique moment in nature a temporary view, forever changing as the water breaks on the shore, each wave and ebb of water reflecting light and colour slightly differently to the one before.

Painting this I, I felt able to explain my fascination for the ocean and enjoyed every second of capturing its shape and movement.

I am definitely a ‘thalassophile’ someone who feels an inescapable need to be and live by the sea.

New creation: ‘Walking to Sunset’

Original oil on canvas

40cm x 50cm

Original and prints available

I took a while to complete this one as I wanted to get it just right. This is an iconic image from my local towns beach side walk with the nostalgic ‘zig zag’ path that may not be here for much longer, due to essential sea defence’s being updated.

Sunrise and sunset on a clear day always make a golden light and very dramatic skies.

Lovely memories and hopefully an image you like too, if you know this south coast scene or not.

New creation: ‘Mellow Depths’

Original oil on canvas

30cm x 30cm

Original and prints available

Inspired by my previously completed painting below, I created this smaller canvas in oils of the calm and beautifully coloured underwater world, below the surface.

I love the abstract shapes and forms of the light filtering through onto the sand, shaped by the moving waves.

Recently completed painting: ‘Nui Bay’

Original oil on canvas

75cm x 50cm

Original and prints available

Loved working on this painting, so therapeutic studying all of the colours, tones and shapes that the tropical clearwater created. The painting was imagined from various studies of beautiful photographs that my daughter took on her recent trip to Thailand.

It made me long for further travel adventures of my own as I hope it does for you too.
